Morris Furniture
Over a century old, the Morris Furniture Group has spanned three generations of the Morris Family and has been offering unrivalled quality of design, planning, manufacture and service since 1904. We are the UK's largest independent cabinet furniture manufacturer, supplying the domestic, office, educational and contract marketing sectors. Furniture is in our blood.
Experience has taught us how to make the most comfortable, practical and durable furniture. Experience has given us an in-depth knowledge of science and an understanding of aesthetics. Experience has taught us the difference between the satisfactory and the extraordinary.
Experience has taught us what customers want. The history of the company can almost be 20th century with Morris associated with many of the era's greatest landmarks.
From the early days fitting out the famous Gleneagles and Turnberry Hotels in 1924, the Cunard Queen Mary in 1934 and her sister ship the Queen Elizabeth four years later, Morris has been involved in some of the greatest highlights of the past 100 years.
Our contribution to the war effort between 1939 and 1945 involved the manufacture of Enfield rifle butts, aircraft jettison fuel tanks, ammunition boxes, barrage carriers and rotor blades. We were the choice of Royalty in 1949 when Morris was commissioned to design and fit a special bedroom suite for Queen and Prince Phillip as a Royal wedding gift. Eighteen years later we found ourselves fitting out Her Majesty's namesake cruise ship.
Morris has made bedrooms for the great early hotel chains, seating for the first cinemas, cases for the first jukeboxes, casings for the dambusters, royal bedrooms, the list goes on...
The Morris Furniture Group has enjoyed a rich and successful history spanning 3 generations of the Morris family. Born in the late 1800's Harris Morris steered the Morris Furniture Company through production for top hotels, cunard liners, thousands of cinema seats, cabinets for radios and Wurlitzer jukeboxes.
Harris's son Neil ensured Morris played a key part in the war effort helping to produce Enfield rifles, barrage balloons and Mosquito aircraft. A magnificent bedroom suite was created as a wedding present for Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh. Crafting first class cabinet furniture for the Queen Mary and QE2 liners was the springboard for Morris's launch into domestic furniture in the post war boom.
Neil's son Robert, joined the company in 1973 and larger premises were found for new machinery and systems. Conservation and the environment became an important and award-winning concern.
In the 1990's Morris acquired G Plan and Beautility with ever increasing turnover and over 500 staff. The turn of this century has brought continued success with the recent acquisition of Homestyle Kitchens, Diamik and Roc Office and a staff roll of over 1000.
Morris Furniture is one of the finest manufacturers in the UK. The specific ranges which we provide are; Morris Artisan, Morris Grange, Morris Lakeland, Morris Harvard, Morris Orleans, Morris Regency, Morris Sovereign and Morris Windsor.
